Stitching Club projects for 2010

This year we have two new projects:

VICTORIAN SAMPLER

Victorian SamplerThis intriguing piece is designed by Olwyn Horwood, well known for her expertise with samplers. Olwyn has kindly made this available to us so that we can adapt it and send it to you in parts over 10 months.
It is worked in cross stitch and satin stitch with a vast array of colours. Inspired by a sampler (circa 1850-1900) brought from Vienna to America before WWII, it uses the full 140cm width of 32 count fabric for its length and is only 13cm wide when finished.

The project is open to all levels and you will receive two bands and borders a month. It is worked on 32 count Permin Linen with DMC cottons (about 80 colours)

Cost: $25.00 per month

Begins late March with the last part being sent out in December.

MY STITCHING ALBUM

This is an exciting project from Jeanette Douglas. It is a 9 part workshop featuring back and front book covers and eight pages of samplers. Each page features one particular stitching technique, worked in a variety of different ways. It uses a gorgeous array of silk threads and features fun original verses from Jeanette who fancies herself as a bit of a poet.

Each page has a pocket on its silk-lined back side to store stitching tools and collectibles. A variety of these will be offered during the course of the project as extras. When assembled it presents as a sort of coffee table book to show family and friends how clever you are.

We will be running this project in 9 installments at about 6 weeks intervals. The first installment is the Getting Started package which includes the front and back covers and your assembly instructions. You get to put all this together in a colourful workbook built up over the duration, with pages for notes and extra graphs for personalizing your initials.

You then receive every six weeks or so a different sampler with names like Mosaic Muse, Humgarian Harmony, Crossed Caper, etc. The threads are all hand dyed silks in exquisite shades.

The project is worked on 32 count linen. You can elect to work on Cream or Vintage Belfast or Crème Brulee hand-dyed linen.

Each part includes Instructions, Silk threads and Embellishments and Fabric cut to size. Making up requirements are not included.

Cost:
On Belfast Linen           $65.00 each installment
On Hand Dyed Linen    $75.00 each installment
