Newsletter-December 2010

Dear Stitchfriends,

December 2010 Newsletter

Can you believe how quickly this year has come to an end. For some we know it has been very difficult and for those who have endured the Christchurch Earthquake our thoughts are with you. And for the families and friends of Greymouth Mining Disaster victims our heartfelt sympathy for your loss.

Our last mailout for the year went out recently and we had a ruthless cull of that mailing list as it had grown very long and was costing too much to send out. If you didn't get yours and wish to remain on that mailing list, please let us know and we will re-instate you. Remember that newsletter is different and more detailed then these infrequent updates. We will continue to do newsletters in both formats as many of our customers still enjoy receiving real mail and many can't be bothered with the internet. I would rather be stitching is a comment we like to hear.

Our Christmas and Holiday opening hours are as follows:

Close midday on Fri 24th December - Reopen Wed 5th January.

5th - 8th January we will have shortened hours 10am - 4pm in keeping with everyone being in holiday mode.
After that we will resume our normal hours of Mon- Fri 9.30am - 5pm. Sat 10am - 2pm.

We are, however, considering opening for a few hours between Christmas and New Year for out of town customers. This would be Wed 29th from 10am - 2pm. If you think this would be of interest to you please let us know. If we get no feedback we won't bother. It is very quiet around here at this time and none of the cafes are open so we have not found it very busy in the past. However we do get calls from visitors to Auckland expressing their disappointment that we weren't open.

Some recently arrived items that didn't make in time for our latest mailout:
Bee Noel

Bee Noel.

This is a very gorgeous pattern which a couple of customers have made into lovely cushions to bring out at Christmas time , or the bellpull looks very festive hanging near the tree. Uses DMC thread and gold or silver treasure braid.

Pink Pearls and Roses

Pink Pearls and Roses.

This is a really pretty holdall which beautifully complements the Kelmscott range of needlework accessories. The delicacy of the pinks with the mother of pearl accessories is very effective. Worked on 28 or 30 count linen with silk threads and silk lining this is a special project.

Sheep at Night Needleminder

Sheep at Night Needleminder.

This is the newest design from Kelmscott and we just love it. If you have never has a needleminder then treat yourself. They are fabulous. Two magnets attach the minder to your work and you rest your needle on it instead of in the fabric. Never lose your needle again. Initials are available as well if you want a personalized gift. These make great stocking fillers.
(You'll have to buy your own because no one else will think of it and who fills the stockings anyway?)
