Newsletter - December 2008

Dear Stitchfriends,

This will be our last newsletter for the year. We thank you for your support and hope you enjoy some peace and quiet over the holiday period. We have a few items which might tempt you which are new into the shop in the last few weeks.

Exciting new cushion designs from designer Jenny Hill who spent a year on Aitutaki in the Cook Islands, learning by immersion the art of Tivaivai as taught by the local woman.

Jenny has designed these colourful kitsets so you, too can create your own little piece of Tropicana. What better way to spend the summer than under a tree stitching, pretending to embrace Island life.

Kits contain fabrics, needle, thread, buttons and detailed instructions and come brightly packaged in attractive gift bags. $45.00

Sharon Cohen specializes in reviving historical hand embroidery techniques especially those used in Elizabethan times.

Go to the 'What's New' Page to see a selection of what we have in store.

From Victoria Sampler, we have some new interesting designs which are wonderful heirlooms as most of their designs are.

Mystics Smalls and Where Stitchers Gather are exquisite sets of needlework accessories, needlebooks, scissor fobs, pin cushions and scissor cases.

The patterns are in booklet form and use a lot of interesting threads and embellishments, which are available in accompanying packs if you wish.

A real stunner is the Christmas Treasures Collection book which consists of a set of 12 ornaments and a beautiful box lid design to go on the box to keep them in. (you need to find the box)

Fabulous gift for family members setting up a new home.

A Pair of Pin Cubes. How Cute is this?

Apparently Pin Cubes were popular in Victorian times. This one was inspired by an antique one made of cardboard which is labelled 'toilet pins'. It was a holder for pins used for grooming and dressing oneself and other household needs. I bet you didn't know that!

Another clever Ellen Chester Design.

A Patchwork Garden Pincushion Ball

We think this is very cute too. It is great for using up scraps of linen and is very decorative. You could even do it in Christmas colours for your tree.

We have bags of scraps to go with it if you don't have enough colours of your own
