Newsletter - December 2011
Dear Stitchfriends,
December 2011 Newsletter
Can't believe how fast this year has run away on us. Is Christmas really just around the corner? I blame that Rugby and the election. Everyone took their eye off the ball and look what happened, we lost a couple of months I am sure. Well that is our explanation anyway. It can't possibly just be that we are getting old. When the young ones start complaining about how fast time is flying then you know there is a problem. Still it must mean we have all been really busy which is a good thing.
We would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and holiday season and thank you for your custom during the year. We hope you have enjoyed your stitching and at least achieved some of the things you planned on.
We look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year when we will have new classes and new projects and a new little venture to tell you about. My summer will be spent preparing to move house which will be a mission, but I will manage to slip in a little light relief in the form of a visit to the tennis in Melbourne at the beginning of the year. (And a bit of shopping of course if it isn't too hot)
We have a few items here to keep you going if you need a little project over the holidays.

Christmas Sampler This is a quick and eay project which you could stitch for next year and be really ahead of yourself. Once again, good for beginners and the pattern also shows alternative ideas for using the motifs as tree decorations, or pincushions or little box tops. You can get a lot of mileage from one simple pattern. Get the kids going on projects on a wet day. Chart $20.50 |

Red Hussif. This is a lovely collection of designs and letters arranged into a clever little holdall for your embroidery bits. Full alphabet is given so you can personalise your piece and we have ordered in a gorgeous range of the French General fabrics for early next year so you can make it up like the picture. This is definitely on my wish list for a summer project. (That's if I can finish all the other things I have lined up for class projects!). Chart $39.90 |

Porte Aiguilles Printemps (Spring Needlebook). This is a little bit different as it incorporates crocheted motifs and flowers along with embroidery. Nice for a little change. Instructions are in french but if you know how to crochet that wouldn't be a problem. There are a few new things coming out that include a bit of crochet. It is definitely having a revival, so dig out those old hooks. Kitset $65.00. Includes embroidery thread, crochet cotton, lining fabric, felt, ribbon and pre-printed design. |
